• Stress test focuses upon testing those limits of the system’s performance that could impact upon its own or other systems’ performance within the production environment

  • Stress testing is conducted within an environment that matches the production environment as closely as possible

  • Stress testing focuses upon those aspects of a system that can be tuned to improve the efficiency and/or robustness of the system

  • All problems identified during stress testing are notified to the project and tracked through to their resolution using the formal change control procedure

  • Typical stress test will include:

- On-line response times

- Navigation between dialogues

- Recovery following system failures

- Batch run times

- Normal and peak volumes

- Normal and peak frequencies
