Three types of measurement units for CSS and their uses.

  • Absolute Units. Absolute units are measurements that specify a fixed value. Generally should be avoided because they cannot be scaled to the individual display type. They are better when you know the exact measurements of the destination medium.
  • Relative Units. They are designed for scalable Web Pages It is the recommended type because ensure that type sizes will be displayed relatively to each other or to the default font.
  • Percentages. Percentages are always relative to another value.
